Amber Polish Restaurant

Amber Restaurant teases the palates of Tucsonans from the Olive Tree's former locale.

The polish fare is complimented by paintings from local artists that adorn it's simply painted walls.  The dining room is well lit thanks to floor to ceiling windows and patio doors that open to outdoor seating in a courtyard with a fountain.

For a sampling of made from scratch, authentic Polish cuisine, order the Polish Special Combo ($24 for lunch) and be prepared to share.  This huge platter includes pork and rice stuffed cabbage rolls, kielbasa and sauerkraut, an assortment of handcrafted pierogi's, and a sweet red cabbage coleslaw.

Anxious to try an 'authentic homemade pierogi' my anticipation was met with a buttery, chewy pasta filled with a rich blend of potato and sharp cheese.  Not to be outdone, the cabbage rolls were stuffed with a savory blend of pork and rice, and topped with a tomato dill sauce. Perhaps most surprising, was the subtlety of the kraut perched atop the kielbasa. Often ridiculously vinegary, this kraut was mild, and enhanced the crisp casing of the juicy sausage beneath it.

No Polish feast would be complete without Nalesniki (crepes) dripping in a sweet and citrusy sauce and drizzled with chocolate.
Goods apetyty (bon appetite)!
